Natural Dye Workshop // May 27 2017
Learn the basics of Natural dying on natural fabric with designer Veronica Buitron of Suspiro.
A two-hour workshop where you will learn the basics concepts of Natural Dyes and how to apply them to natural fibers. We will work on two techniques to create patterns over the fabric. The first hour we will explore a technique called Eco-bundling. We will use natural matter like leaves, flowers, peels to create shapes and patterns onto the fabric. The second hour we will try Shibori, a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it with natural dyes.
Students should bring gloves and apron. They could collect flowers, leaves, or anything they want to try to use as dye stuff.
