RISD Craft 2021 - ANNUAL JURIED SALE
Benefit Street between Waterman and Hopkins Streets (on RISD campus), Providence RI
RISD Craft, our annual juried sale, features handmade fine art and design work by more than 90 alumni and 25 current students. The work on view speaks to the quality, attention to detail and mastery of craftsmanship students and alumni hone at RISD and bring to their own practices in a wide variety of media.
Viewers have an opportunity to engage with makers while finding unique gifts and one-of-a-kind items at this sale, which runs during RISD Weekend. While checking out the exemplary craftsmanship, be sure to cast your vote for your favorite artist to make them eligible for the People’s Choice Award and a cash prize.
Eager to show your own work? Check out our PARTICIPATE page for information about applying to future RISD Craft exhibitions.
MOMMY AND ME QUICKIE COUTURESaturday, October 23
2 PM - 6 PM
Bal Harbour Couture Kids
Bal Harbour Shops
Miami’s own, award – winning fiber artist and designer Karelle Levy of KRELwear collaborates with Couture Kids with her unique Quickie Couture project for Mommy and me. Karelle will bring her signature stretchy fabric she knits in her shop. These fabrics are perfectly breathable and made from plant-based and metallic yarns. Kids and adults pick out their favorite fabrics and tells her what they want: It can be a t-shirt, dress, pants, whatever they’re heart’s desire. She drapes and pins the fabric on their body to make the perfect fit. She then cuts and sews the clothes on the spot. A Polaroid picture is taken to add to her on-going photo album it’s own work of art. Other ready to wear pieces will be on hand for Mommies and kids alike. Karelle was just awarded Best Women’s Wear Designer by Miami New Times.
